Proper Gander (“the App,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have regarding your personal information. By using the App, you agree to this Privacy Policy.

- Account Information
- Name and email address (when creating an account).
- Authentication credentials (password or OAuth tokens).
- Property & Tenant Information (user-generated content)
- Property details (such as address, rent amounts, due dates, lease terms, pets allowed, notes, and other information you choose to record).
- Property owner and tenant contact information (name, phone number, email, etc.).
- Tasks, reminders, and notes you enter into the App.
- Device & Usage Data
- Device type, operating system, app version.
- Basic usage analytics (errors, app performance).
- IP address and general location (as logged by Firebase).
- Optional Media
- Photos or files you choose to upload.
3. How We Use Information
We use your information to:
- Provide the core functionality of the App (managing properties, tenants, tasks).
- Authenticate your account and keep it secure.
- Improve the App's performance and fix issues.
- Communicate important updates (such as changes to Terms of Service or Privacy Policy).
- Comply with legal obligations, if required.
We do not sell or rent your information to third parties.
4. How We Share Information
We may share your information only in these limited cases:
- Service Providers. We use Google Firebase to host, store, and secure your data. Firebase may process your information only to provide services to us. In addition to Firebase, we may use other third-party services and open-source libraries (such as React Native and Expo) to provide the App. These services may process limited technical information in order to deliver their functionality.
- Legal Requirements. We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or to protect our rights, safety, or the rights of others.
- Business Changes. If Proper Gander is ever sold or transferred, your information may be part of the transfer.
5. Data Security
- Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest (Firebase encryption).
- Access to your data is restricted by Firebase Authentication and custom security rules.
- Users are responsible for safeguarding their passwords and devices.
6. Data Retention
- We retain your account information and property/tenant data while your account remains active.
- If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your data within a reasonable timeframe, except where retention is required by law.
- Backups may persist for a limited period before permanent deletion.
- In some cases, we may retain limited information if required by law (for example, to comply with a valid legal request or governmental order).
7. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to:
- Request a copy of your data in a portable format.
- Request correction or deletion of your data.
- Restrict or object to certain types of data processing.
- Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
- Withdraw consent to data processing (by deleting your account).

8. Children’s Privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If we learn that we have collected information from a child under 13, we will delete it.

If you access the App from outside the United States, be aware that your information may be transferred to and stored in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from your jurisdiction. By using the App, you consent to the transfer of your information to the United States. If you are in the European Economic Area, we rely on your consent and standard contractual safeguards for such transfers.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we may notify you via the App and/or by email. In some cases, you may be required to accept the updated version to continue using the App.
